Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC), in collaboration with Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) and Centre for Railway Information Systems (CRIS), has launched the ‘One India – One Ticket’ initiative aimed at enhancing the travel experience for Main Line Railway and Metro passengers in the Delhi National Capital Region (NCR) area.

According to a press release issued on Wednesday, the initiative allows passengers to book Delhi Metro QR Code-based tickets directly through the IRCTC website and mobile app. This integration marks a significant step towards simplifying travel logistics by enabling seamless ticketing across different modes of transport within the region.

Advanced Booking Options for Delhi Metro

The newly introduced facility enables passengers to book Delhi Metro tickets up to 120 days in advance, synchronizing with the Indian Railways’ Advance Reservation Period (ARP). These QR code-based tickets are valid for four days, providing flexibility for travel planning.

Sanjay Kumar Jain, CMD of IRCTC, and Vikas Kumar, MD of DMRC, expressed optimism about the initiative’s impact on passenger convenience. “With the successful launch of the Beta Version today, we look forward to the regular version of IRCTC-DMRC QR Code Ticket being rolled out soon,” they stated.

Currently, single-journey tickets for Delhi Metro can only be purchased on the day of travel with same-day validity. The new system allows for advance booking, ensuring smoother travel arrangements for commuters across both rail and metro networks.

Passengers booking rail tickets that either originate or terminate within the Delhi/NCR region can seamlessly include Delhi Metro tickets during their booking process. Moreover, the initiative supports flexible cancellations and ensures that one DMRC QR code per passenger is integrated into the Electronic Reservation Slip of IRCTC.
