Mining major, Vedanta reported a 4% jump in its total aluminum production for the fourth quarter of FY24 i to 598,000 tonnes from  574,000 tonnes produced in the same quarter last fiscal. The company highlighted an 18 per cent increase in alumina production at its Lanjigarh refinery unit in Odisha, reaching 448,000 tonnes as a result of improved operational performance.

However for Zinc, production decreased slightly to 299,000 tonnes from 301,000 tonnes in the fourth quarter of FY23. Refined zinc production was flat at 220,000 tonnes, while refined lead output dropped to 53,000 tonnes in Q4 of FY24 compared to the previous year.

In the oil and gas sector, Vedanta’s average gross operated production decreased to 117.8 kboepd (thousand barrels of oil equivalent per day) in Q4 FY24, with the Rajasthan block recording a 13 percent year-on-year decline to 97.8 kboepd.

The company’s iron ore business in Karnataka reported a saleable ore output of 1.7 million tonnes, marking a 13 percent increase over Q4 FY23 due to improved operational efficiency and process enhancements.

Pig iron production rose by 6 percent year-on-year to 198,000 tonnes, while total saleable production in the steel segment dropped by 11 percent to 343,000 tonnes in Q4 FY24.

The FACOR business recorded an ore production of 79,000 tonnes in Q4 FY24, a 55 per cent year-on-year increase driven by operational efficiencies. Ferrochrome production also saw growth, standing at 27,000 tonnes, up 38 percent year-on-year due to capacity enhancement and improved productivity.  Vedanta, a subsidiary of Vedanta Resources operates globally across India, South Africa, Namibia, Liberia, UAE, Korea, Taiwan, and Japan.
