Vijay Mallya-led United Breweries (UBL) on Thursday posted a net profit of Rs 42.62 crore for the September quarter against a loss of Rs 18.57 crore in the same period last year.

Higher sales on account of double-digit growth in the beer industry, price increases in some markets and lower input costs helped drive profitability, it said. The brewer had taken a hit in the year-ago period owing to a decline in sales and higher inputs costs.
