Tata Consultancy Services released the financial results of the company on Thursday. As per the quarterly report, the company’s total employee strength increased by 6071 on a year-on-year basis. The company said that its LTM (Last Twelve Months) attrition rate is at 13.8 percent in the first quarter of fiscal year 2026.
TCS total headcount increased to 6,13,069 in Q1FY26. In the same quarter of the previous fiscal year, its total employee headcount was 6,06,998. The company said that its associates invested 15 million hours and acquired 1.3 million competencies in emerging technologies.
TCS employee cost in Q1FY26
Tata Consultancy Services incurred a total expense of Rs 48,118 crore in Q1FY26. Employee benefit expenses amounted to 78.38 percent of its total expenses in the quarter. TCS reports a total of Rs 37,715 crore in Q1FY26.
On a YoY basis, TCS’s employee benefit expenses have increased by 3.57 percent as its same expenses stood at Rs 36,416 crore in the corresponding quarter in the previous fiscal year. On a quarter-on-quarter basis, TCS employee benefit expenses have increased by Rs 1299 crore.
Milind Lakkad, Chief HR Officer of TCS, said in a statement, “Talent Development is core to TCS. In this quarter, our associates invested 15 million hours in building expertise in emerging technologies, enabling them to lead the
transformation journey for our customers. It is gratifying to note that TCS now has 114,000 people with
higher-order AI skills”.
AI and job cuts at TCS
During the post-results presser, Milind Lakkad, Chief HR Officer at TCS said that the company will not reduce headcount due to artificial intelligence (AI). He said, “We expect to hire as we had planned. The kind of jobs they will do is different.”
Innovations by TCS in Q1FY26
In its quarterly report, TCS said that it has 6.13 lakh strong employees managing its business in 55 countries, across its 55 subsidiary companies. The company has applied for a total of 8,987 patents till now, including 171 in Q1FY26.
TCS has received a total of 4939 patents till now. In Q4FY26, the company was granted 119 patents.
