On my bookshelf
Currently going through a re-reading phase. I re-read and re-enjoyed Phillip Pullman’s series His Dark Materials thoroughly. My two favourite books include The Conquest of Happiness by Bertrand Russell and Sapiens by Yuval Noah Harari for the most concise yet comprehensive take on the history of mankind.
A movie I’d like to watch again/ A TV series I love
The Queen written by Peter Morgan. The screenwriting is phenomenal and conveys the inherent pressures of wearing the crown. Helen Mirren’s portrayal of the queen and the way she impeccably portrays the dilemma and pathos of Her Royal Highness leaves one spellbound. I love British crime serials. Currently, I am watching Endeavour based on the younger version of Inspector Horse. Chak De India and Padosan are two movies I can watch repeatedly.
A famous quote I swear by
‘Umar bhar Ghalib yahi bhool karta raha, dhool chehre pe thi aur aaina saaf karta raha’ — Mirza Ghalib. It roughly translates as, we end up trying to change the world while the fault invariably lies within us.
My wanderlust
London, without a doubt. I love its inclusive feel, the pubs, the theatres, the walks and the fact that from the doorman to the London cabbie to my very British banker friends — everyone has such an awesome sense of humour.
Indulgence is…
My mom’s aloo parathas — made with tons of love (and ghee!).
