Snapdeal Unbox Diwali sale: The eretailer says that it has recorded highest ever sales in terms of volume and also value on Day 1 of the 2016 Diwali Sale, beating its previous record. During the Snapdeal Unbox Diwali sale, volumes soared some 9X of average daily sales, with over 80% of orders coming from its mobile platforms. Major strides were made from tier 2 and 3 cities with the traffic increasing by 20 times. Cities like Mizoram, Meghalaya, Goa, Himachal Pradesh and Jammu & Kashmir led from the front.
As far as mobile phones are concerned Day 1 of Unbox Diwali sale proved to be great for the online marketplace as customers rushed to get the best deals available on the site. The top selling smartphone models are Redmi Note 3, iPhone 5s, iPhone 6s, Mi Max, LeEco Le Max 2 and thereafter came Samsung Galaxy J2 Pro & Samsung Galaxy J3S.
Moving from smartphones to storage devices, another extremely popular e-category, then Sony, Toshiba, Samsung, SanDisk were very popular. In the personal electronics segment, Philips hair dryers, JBL In-ear speakers, shavers and trimmers were what kept consumers engrossed.
In the other categories, Voltas 1.2 Ton Split ACs, Dell and Acer laptops, Canon and Nikon cameras, Kitchen appliances, were some of the other products that consumers showed a lot of interest in and the products kept moving onto the shopping cards through the day.
Footwear segment too became a top-seller as there were quite a few discounts available from a number of brands. The interest in these products ensured that over 100,000 pairs were sold on day 1!
The Snapdeal Unbox Diwali sale did not generate good numbers just for the ecommerce major, it also made for excellent news for its sellers. As many as 37 sellers on its site crossed the Rs 1 crore turnover mark on Day 1 itself, while over 63,000 unique sellers registered orders on Day 1.

The number of items purchased during the day weighed nearly 3,000 tonnes, which would be more than enough to fill 20 Airbus A380s jumbos (the biggest plane in the world).
