RailTel Corporation of India has secured a major project worth Rs 216.81 crore from the Bihar government to implement the Mukhyamantri Surakshit Sushasit Shahar (Safe City) initiative.

In a stock exchange filing on Monday, the company said it received a Letter of Intent (LoI) from Bihar State Electronics Development Corporation Ltd for the project. The total order value includes taxes and is to be executed by August 4, 2030.RailTel to implement Bihar’s Safe City projectThe project falls under the Bihar government’s Safe City initiative, which focuses on improving security infrastructure in urban areas.

RailTel, a Mini Ratna (Category-I) PSU under the Ministry of Railways, will be responsible for the full-scale implementation of the project across various cities in the state.The company clarified that the contract is domestic in nature, and there is no related party involvement. It also noted that none of the promoter groups have any interest in the awarding entity.

RailTel wins Rs 166 crore BSNL service contract

Earlier this month on Aug 1, RailTel Corporation of India had also secured an advance work order worth Rs 166.38 crore from Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL), a domestic public sector telecom firm. The order covers service-related work and is scheduled to be executed by July 31, 2028. This order is also domestic with no other related party transaction involved. 

RailTel posts 36% jump in Q1 profit

In Q1FY26, RailTel Corporation of India reported a 36 per cent growth in net profit to Rs 66 crore, up from Rs 49 crore in the same period last year. The company announced its first-quarter earnings on July 28, with revenue from operations rising 33 per cent to Rs 744 crore, compared to Rs 558 crore in the corresponding quarter of the previous financial year.
