Infosys, in partnership with Tennis Australia, has unveiled new AI-driven innovations and platforms for the 2025 Australian Open (AO), marking a continuation of their seven-year collaboration. These advancements aim to enhance fan experiences and provide support to players and coaches through cutting-edge AI technology.
The innovations are powered by Infosys Topaz, a suite of generative AI offerings designed to redefine fan engagement and expand digital interactivity in tennis.
A highlight is Beyond Tennis, the first-ever generative AI-powered tennis league. This interactive platform allows fans to engage with 16 AI-created virtual players across eight teams, manage virtual teams, and participate in AI-generated tournaments. According to Infosys, the league aims to connect with Gen Z audiences while ensuring safety through a responsible AI framework.
The 2025 AO will also feature AI Commentary in the Infosys Match Centre on its website and app. Using advanced language models, this feature provides concise, insightful commentary moments during matches. At Melbourne Park, the Infosys Fan Zone will introduce the VR AI Stadium, where fans can design and step onto virtual tennis courts inspired by various themes, including nature and galaxies, using generative AI speech-to-image technology.
Infosys continues to provide AI-powered tools such as video analytics and machine learning to support players and coaches. These tools include post-match reviews, pre-game video analysis, and the AI Shot of the Day, which enables the AO media team to quickly create and share digital highlights.
The Infosys Fan Zone is also environmentally conscious, featuring a fully offset carbon footprint and recyclable structures. Additionally, Infosys and Tennis Australia are driving the Future Leaders Programme through Infosys Springboard. This initiative equips participants with skills in inclusion, leadership, technology, and design thinking.
