Amid the Confederation of Indian Industry’s (CII) ongoing 30th edition of the Partnership Summit 2025 in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh is already experience boost in its stance as the country’s new futuristic city. At a time like this, Alphabet Inc’s Google’s potential decision to elevate its investment in Andhra Pradesh beyond $15 billion after five years has only made the state’s tech-driven trailblazing chapter more auspicious.

Andhra Pradesh CM N Chandrababu Naidu bets on Google boosting India link beyond $15 bn

In an interview over the weekend, the southern Indian state’s leader N Chandrababu Naidu shed light on the America-based company’s plans to build an AI data centre in Andhra Pradesh. “It is a win-win situation to start with $15 billion within five years,” he said of Google’s plans to build what will be one of the largest AI data centres India has seen, as per Bloomberg.

Even as Naidu is counting on Google to boost its investment in the state to go over $15 billion in the future, the forthcoming project remains the US-based giant’s biggest investment in India as of now. Having announced the Visakhapatnam data centre plans last month, Google will be joined by Gautam Adani’s company AdaniConneX as a crucial partner in the ambitious endeavour. India’s No 2 wireless carrier, Bharti Airtel, will be another big player in the global team-up.

On top of that, Google is not the only major corporate player looking to establish a data hub in Andhra Pradesh. Indian big shot magnate Mukesh Ambani’s Reliance Industries is yet another behemoth committing to back a 1 GW AI data centre in the state.

Google AI hub: Big boost for Andhra Pradesh

Consequently, it has led CM Naidu raise his expectations tied to the state’s standing. As per Bloomberg, he is eyeing a 15% economic growth rate for Andhra Pradesh and hoping that investments worth $1 trillion pour into it over the next 10 years. Not only that, the state government is also keen on developing 6GW of data centre capacity by 2029.

“This data flow is cost-effective compared to consumption of power,” he said in the recent interview. Calling it a “game changer,” he couldn’t help but beam about how “now everybody is coming to Andhra Pradesh.” The upward progress on building an expansive AI workshop in the state, has already got Naidu positively looking forward to how “it is going to become a global hub for data centres.”

With Indian tech giants already participating in the Google-India link-up (and otherwise), eyes are now locked on how the regional government will contribute to the rising AI boom on local grounds.

What Google said about the big India investment

Back in October, Google Cloud CEO also spoke highly of the company new venture in Andhra Pradesh. While at an event in Delhi, he said. “It’s the largest AI hub that we are going to be investing in anywhere in the world, outside of the United States.”

Google’s Visakhapatnam data centre will play into the company’s global network of AI building, with similar hubs set across 12 countries. Notably, this move focussed on international network-building comes at a time when US President Donald Trump has been severely vocal about his ‘American First’ agenda, compelling US companies to focus on domestic opportunities.

Meanwhile Indian-origin Alphabet CEO Sundar Pichai said the Andhra Pradesh facility “will bring our industry-leading technology to enterprises and users in India, accelerating AI innovation and driving growth across the country,” according to the BBC.

CM Naidu on the ongoing CII Partnership Summit 2025

The state’s chief minister has already hailed the summit–attracting over hundreds of international delegates–as a super-hit affair. Upon the conclusion of the event on November 15, he proudly told Indian media that it had brought in a total investment offer of Rs 13.25 lakh crore.

“The summit was not confined to attracting investments,” he said. “It was organised in a hybrid model with knowledge sharing sessions and discussions on global industrial scenarios.”

Speaking on his commitment to revamp Andhra Pradesh altogether, he said, “Rayalaseema will be developed as the horticulture and industrial hub and coastal AP as the aqua hub and Visakhapatnam the AI hub with the setting up of a data centre.”
