Flipkart’s marquee festive season sale “Big Billion Sale” that created a huge uproar among disgruntled buyers last year is back. The sale will be over five days between October 13 and 17. However, buyers shopping from desktop through website will not be able to get deep discounts as this year’s Big Billion Sale will be an app-only shopping event.

Evidently with this move Flipkart will gain more app-users who would not want to miss the discounts Flipkart would offer.

“India shops the most during this time of the year. With over 75% of traffic coming via mobile, we expect this app only sale to be the biggest shopping event of the year. Bigger and better as compared to last year,” said Mukesh Bansal, head of commerce platform, Flipkart.

Last year Flipkart founders Sachin and Binny Bansal had apologised to their customers after the company felt the heat from people on social media. Customers had then complained about inflated pricing, a slow website and limited availability of products.

This year, the e-commerce major says it’s fully prepared to handle any technical or otherwise glitches. “We have worked towards ensuring a seamless shopping experience for our customers. We have also ramped up our technology and supply chain support to ensure all our 50 million customers have the best ever mobile shopping experience. In fact, to cater to the massive customer demand; we have opened new fulfillment centers across the country to guarantee efficient delivery,” said Mukesh Bansal.

Discounts during the five-day-long Big Billion Sale would cover more than 70 product categories such as apparels, footwear, mobiles, furniture, laptops, toys, large appliances, jewelery. Myntra will offer a curated selection from iconic fashion brands during the sale.
