Bharti Airtel on Monday announced unlimited free voice calls to any network in India for its 1.43 million broadband customers priced at Rs 49 (local calls) and Rs 99 (for local and STD calls).

The two voice calling packs apply to unlimited calls on both mobile and landline. Airtel provides fixed-line telephone and broadband services for homes and businesses in 87 cities across India.

“Existing customers can opt for the packs by sending an SMS <UNL49> to 53636 for the Rs 49 pack or <UNL99> to 53636 for the Rs 99 pack from their registered mobile number. New customers can book a new broadband connection to avail these offers by sending an SMS <VOICE> to 53636,” the company said in a press statement.

BSNL had recently announced free night time calling (9 pm to 7 am) for its landline phone users to any mobile or landline numbers from May 1.

BSNL has 9.98 million landline customers. According to a recent study by the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (Trai), the wireline subscriber base declined from 26.87 million at the end of January 2015 to 26.72 million at the end of February 2015.

The net reduction in the wireline subscriber base was 0.15 million at the monthly decline rate of 0.54%. The study also showed that  Airtel emerged as the top gainer in fixed-line business while state-owned BSNL was ranked as top loser of fixed-line customers in the month of February.
