Weekends are all about downtime. After a week full of work to meet deadlines, everybody needs some breather to relax and recuperate. From watching a favourite web series to planning a vacation, weekends are designated as family and me time. Manjit Rajain, Founder & Global Chairman of Tenon Group of Companies, talks to BrandWagon Online about his weekends, favourite vacation destination and more.
1. What is the one thing you like to do when not working?
When not working, I enjoy flying airplanes. Doing this disassociates me from the mundane routine of life and makes me feel free. Being a trained pilot, I love the experience of flying an aircraft to higher altitudes and the beauty that comes with it. It gives me a different way to view the world.
2. How do you spend your weekends?
For me, weekends are all about catching up with family and engaging in activities I love. I enjoy quality time with my grandchildren because they are just so full of energy it keeps me alive. In addition, I play golf which keeps me active but also helps me unwind and think.
3. What are your favourite gadgets?
My interest in technology fascinates me a lot, and an Apple iPad serves as my primary gadget. It helps me to remain connected, organized, and entertained. My routine life revolves around reading, keeping up with the news globally, and working while being out, and so the iPad has become an essential part of my life.
4. Given an option to choose another career, what would it be?
To be fair, I have no reason to consider taking up any other career. I have had the privilege to serve in different professions like working in the Indian Army, service in the police, running a restaurant, and now founding Tenon Group. All these experiences have contributed towards my journey. However, the most empowering remains building the company. It is the best in my books and I wouldn’t want anything else.
5. Which is your favourite vacation spot?
I tend to spend my time in places that have a story to tell, cultures that are unique, and a serene environment. Turkey and London rank high on my list. The busy city life of London and its exquisite history captivates me, and the awe inspiring nature and heritage of Turkey never fails to surprise me. Every trip serves its purpose of sight seeing and resting.
6. A TV show, a movie, and an ad campaign you highly recommend watching
“Freedom at Midnight” profoundly impacted me. Its depiction of the events shaping modern India and the world offered deep insights. Beyond its historical value, the series powerfully illustrated the nature of change and the importance of leadership.
