Weekends are all about downtime. After a week full of work to meet deadlines, everybody needs some breather to relax and recuperate. From watching a favourite web series to planning a vacation, weekends are designated as family and me time. Abhinav Mathur, CEO and managing director, Kaapi Machines, talks to BrandWagon Online about his weekends, favourite vacation destination and more.
What is the one thing you like to do when not working?
Food is a passion outside of work and so is travel. While not at work, I tend to spend time exploring new restaurants and new cuisines with family or planning our next vacation!
How do you spend your weekends?
As an organisation, we believe in a good work-life balance, and we are one of the rare companies in our industry with a 5-day week! Personally, I spend the weekend with friends and family watching our favourite TV shows.
What are your favourite gadgets?
I love our home coffee set-up, which includes a Fellow Kettle, a Budan One-Touch Machine, a Baratza Grinder and a few manual brewers like the Hario V60 Pour-Over & Ceado Hoop. Nothing excites me more than trying out new coffee recipes while at home!
Given an option to choose another career, what would it be?
I would actually have loved being a writer or a journalist as I truly believe that the Pen is the most powerful instrument if used for the right cause!
Which is your favourite vacation spot?
For short vacations, we love driving down to the nearby coffee estates from Bangalore and be in green, natural surroundings. As a family, we have always been fascinated with the history and culture of Europe, so when possible, we do take a vacation to various European cities. Prague, Vienna, Florence and Venice have been our favourites thus far!

Complex themes seem to interest me, and my favourite shows include Game of Thrones, Mr. Robot & House of Cards!
