Weekends are all about downtime. After a week full of work to meet deadlines, everybody needs a breather to relax and recuperate. From watching a favourite web series to planning a vacation, weekends are designated as family and me time. Amar Nagaram, Founder & CEO, VIRGIO, talks to BrandWagon Online about his weekends, favourite vacation destination and more.
What is the one thing you like to do when not working?
I love observing how people express themselves—on the streets, at cafés, at airports. Fashion, to me, is sociology in motion. Off work, that’s my meditation: understanding people without words. Sometimes it turns into an idea for a product; sometimes, into a life insight.
How do you spend your weekends?
My weekends are my “pause and play” time. I pause to reflect, read, journal, or go for a long drive. And then I play—usually with my son, who keeps me grounded and teaches me leadership lessons no MBA can. Weekends remind me that curiosity begins at home.
What are your favourite gadgets?
My iPad and my car. The iPad is my creative canvas—I write, plan, or read on it. And the car? That’s my thinking capsule. Long drives, music on, and suddenly a problem I’ve been wrestling with all week finds its answer. I’ve realised the best gadgets aren’t necessarily the most advanced—they’re the ones that expand how you see and feel.
Given an option to choose another career, what would it be?
Probably a storyteller or filmmaker. I’ve always believed entrepreneurship is storytelling—with teams, products, and culture as your cast. If I weren’t building brands, I’d be crafting stories that make people feel seen.
A destination you love visiting repeatedly
Bali. Not for the beaches, but for the pace. Everything there reminds you that slowing down isn’t the opposite of progress. Some of my clearest ideas have come when I stopped trying to chase them.
A TV show, a movie, and an ad campaign you highly recommend watching

Movie:3 Idiots — because it’s about unlearning before succeeding.
Ad Campaign: Tanishq’s remarriage ad — a reminder that courage doesn’t have to shout to be heard.
