At the end of the September quarter, foreign institutional investor (FII) holdings in BSE-200 companies rose to $307 billion (24.1%) from $297 billion (23.3%) as on June 30. While FIIs bought banking, consumer and telecom stocks, mutual funds increased their stakes in banking, energy and consumer products. During the quarter, both FIIs and mutual funds sold industrial stocks. On the contrary, domestic banks, financial institutions and insurance companies sold banking, pharma and telecom stocks and bought automobile stocks.
