Bank Holidays in February 2025 in India: The second month of the year is here and the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has released the bank holiday list for February. If you are planning to go to the bank this month, have a look at the list of holidays. The RBI’s website provides information about these holidays, which vary by state. While banks will remain shut on these dates, customers can still access banking services via net banking, ATMs, mobile applications, and bank websites. 

How many bank holidays are there in February?

As outlined in the RBI holiday calendar, banks in India will remain closed for a total of 14 days in the month of February including public holidays, regional holidays, and regular closures on Sundays, second and fourth Saturdays. February includes festivals like Saraswati Puja, Guru Ravi Das’s Birthday, Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Jayanti and Mahashivratri. In January 2025, banks were closed for 13 days and these holidays included New Year’s Day, Sri Guru Gobind Singh’s Birthday, Makar Sankranti, and the usual weekend breaks.

RBI classifies bank holidays into three categories: Real-Time Gross Settlement Holiday, Banks’ Closing of Accounts Holiday, and Holidays Under the Negotiable Instruments Act. In 2015, the RBI had announced that both private and PSU banks in India would remain closed on the second and fourth Saturdays of the month. On remaining Saturdays, banks will stay operational for the full day. Banks across the country remain closed on Sundays. Further, during state-specific festivals, the banks will remain shut only in those states, while during national festivals, banks are closed across the country.

February 3 (Monday): Saraswati Puja – Banks will remain shut in Agartala.

February 11 (Tuesday): Thai Poosam – Banks will stay shut in Chennai.

February 12 (Wednesday): Guru Ravi Das’s Birthday – Banks will be closed in Shimla.

February 15 (Saturday): Lui-Ngai-Ni – While it’s the third Saturday of the month which means banks are open across the country, but will remain non-operational in Imphal.

February 19 (Wednesday): Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Jayanti – Banks will remain shut in Belapur, Mumbai and Nagpur. 

February 20 (Thursday): Statehood Day/State Day – Banks will be closed in Aizawl and Itanagar. 

February 26 (Wednesday): Mahashivratri – Banks will remain non-operational in Ahmedabad, Aizawl, Belapur, Bengaluru, Bhopal, Bhubaneswar, Chandigarh, Dehradun, Hyderabad – Andhra Pradesh, Hyderabad – Telangana, Jaipur, Jammu, Kanpur, Kochi, Lucknow, Mumbai, Nagpur, Raipur, Ranchi, Shimla, Srinagar and Thiruvananthapuram.

February 28 (Friday): Losar – Banks will remain shut in Gangtok.
