A Kolkata-bound Air India flight returned to the national capital on Monday morning due to a technical issue involving its nose wheel shortly after takeoff.

The flight, AI401, was operating from Delhi to Kolkata when it faced the problem and was forced to return to Indira Gandhi International Airport, where an emergency was declared for its landing.

According to a PTI source, the aircraft landed safely, and an Air India spokesperson confirmed the incident, stating, “The aircraft landed safely for precautionary checks.”

The airline is making alternative arrangements to ensure passengers are flown to their destination as soon as possible. However, details about the number of passengers onboard the aircraft have not been immediately confirmed. The flight was operated with an Airbus A321, as indicated by flight tracking site Flightradar24.

The spokesperson also mentioned, “Full refunds on cancellation and complimentary rescheduling to another date are being offered to guests if so desired by them.”

Earlier in the day, three international flights received fake security threats, leading to disruptions in outbound international flight operations. Two of the affected flights were operated by IndiGo, while one was operated by Air India. Security checks were initiated for all three planes involved. One of the IndiGo flights has since been cleared to resume its journey, while the other two are still undergoing security checks.
