The global Microsoft outage caused a worldwide collapse across various sectors an even caused some major airlines to ground their flights.
Amid the chaos, an image of a hand-written boarding pass issued by IndiGo went viral online. Posted by Akshay Kothari on X, formerly Twitter, the image showed the passenger’s name, destination, flight and seat number written in blue ink.
Responding to the image, IndiGo said, “A hand-written boarding pass – talk about an unexpected throwback! Thanks for your patience during the outage. We hope the retro vibe made your journey a bit more memorable. Safe travels and enjoy the classic touch!”
The image was shared by many media outlets both nationally and internationally.
Manual check-ins had been conducted as the outage continued to hamper operations. All major airlines in India had acknowledged being affected by the outage and issued advisories for their users.
The response by IndiGo on the hand-written boarding pass drew criticism from some people online. A user said, “Instead of being creative here. You can call your important airports, get the cancellation details and post them here. WhatsApp is working. Use it. No time to be creative.”
Another user wrote, “While you might me hvng fun replying to ths msg, you shd be working to fix the error and make all your stranded passanger reach home on time. I am stuck in hotel in Hyderabad which is 20 km away from the airport and have not been contacted by Indigo about reschedule.”
However, several other users posted light-hearted comments, some even appreciating the airline staff.
