The Thiruvananthapuram International Airport is set to undergo a major upgrade of its main runway to enhance passenger safety and improve operational efficiency. Managed by Adani Airport Holdings Limited (AAHL), a subsidiary of Adani Enterprises, the recarpeting project will commence on January 14, 2025, and is scheduled for completion by March 29.
Work will take place daily from 9 AM to 6 PM, with airlines rescheduling flights outside these hours to minimise disruptions.

The project involves recarpeting 3.48 lakh square meters, including the runway and taxiways, along with upgrading the Airfield Ground Lighting (AGL) system from halogen to LED, modernizing airfield signage, and installing stop bar lights.
