PM Modi also did the e-inauguration of terminal buildings in Rewa, Sarsawa of Uttar Pradesh, and Madhya Pradesh along with Ambikapur airport terminal. The overall cost of the projects is worth more than Rs 220 crore. The efforts that have been taken by the government are part of a broader plan to widen air connectivity across India, particularly in underserved regions. Chhattisgarh CM also stated that the new airport has fulfilled a long-waited demand for better access in Surguja, as it helps in connecting it to the country. The development also aligns with PM Modi’s vision of providing affordable air travel even for the remotest place in India, added Sai.
Boost to Chhattisgarh’s Infrastructure
The Maa Mahamaya Airport in Darima has been developed under the Union government’s Regional Connectivity Scheme on 365 acres and at a budget of Rs 80 crore. The upgraded terminal is expected to cater to 5 lakh passengers yearly and has the strength to handle 72-seater aircraft. Chief Minister Sai also highlighted the government’s commitment to enhancing the air network in Chhattisgarh. The number of flights and facilities has been increased at airports in Raipur, Jagdalpur, and Bilaspur.
