A Dammam-bound IndiGo flight from Lucknow was redirected to Jaipur on Tuesday due to a security-related alert. Post the incident, the aircraft was isolated and all the passengers were disembarked safely, a spokesperson for the airline said.
According to Jaipur police, a Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad (BDDS) along with sniffer dogs thoroughly inspected the aircraft, but no suspicious items were discovered. Sandeep Basera, the Station House Officer (SHO) of Jaipur Airport Police Station, also confirmed that after the inspection, all 175 passengers were safely reboarded.
Around 10 bomb threats were posted on social media on Monday and Tuesday, ANI reported citing CISF sources.
Regarding the threats, a senior police official said that they had identified and suspended several accounts that had posted the threats. “It has been stated that some threats originated in London and other countries,” they added
“In the last 24 hours, we have received several bomb threats in many sectors. We are taking up all the calls and also informed concerned police officers regarding the threat to identify the person behind it,” an airport security officer said.
A senior airport security officer emphasized that they take every threat seriously, as the safety of passengers is their top priority and cannot be overlooked.
“After we receive a threat, we inform airlines and the concerned security officer at the airport for further procedure,” the officer said.
