IndiGo on Monday (September 23) announced the launch of direct flights from Bengaluru to Mauritius, starting November 19, 2024. IndiGo will be the first airline post-pandemic to operate on this route, offering four weekly direct flights to enhance connectivity between the two nations.
Mauritius will become IndiGo’s 35th international and 123rd overall destination, underscoring the airline’s commitment to serving both leisure and business travellers.
This new route establishes a direct link between two key economic hubs—Bengaluru, India’s tech capital, and Mauritius, a gateway to East Africa. It aims to meet the growing demand for tourism while fostering trade, investment, and business collaborations between India and East Africa. Mauritius is a preferred destination for Indian investors, offering a favorable business environment in sectors such as healthcare, education, and tourism, and acting as a hub for the African market.
Vinay Malhotra, IndiGo’s Head of Global Sales, expressed his excitement about the new destination, saying, “We are delighted to add Mauritius, a stunning beach destination, to our expanding international network. With four weekly flights from Bengaluru, this direct route will save travel time and provide greater convenience to our passengers. With visa-on-arrival for Indian citizens, this opens up exciting opportunities for both leisure and business travellers.”
Indigo flight 6E 1861 will operate from Bengaluru to Mauritius on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays, and Sundays, departing at 03:20 am and arriving at 07:45 am, starting November 19, 2024. In the opposite direction, Indigo flight 6E 1862 flies from Mauritius to Bengaluru on the same days, departing at 09:30 am and arriving at 16:45 on the same date.
Mauritius, an enchanting island in the Indian Ocean, is known for its beautiful beaches, turquoise waters, and rich cultural heritage. While a paradise for tourists, it is also emerging as a growing economic hub, attracting investors and business travellers due to its favorable investment climate and focus on technology and innovation.
Travellers can book tickets on IndiGo’s website or mobile app. This new route further strengthens the airline’s international network and commitment to global connectivity.
