IndiGo CEO Pieter Elbers, while speaking at the conference of the All India Management Association (AIMA) in Delhi, called India one of the most competitive aviation markets in the world, adding that the competition in the market is huge.
Elbers said that India is an “incredible” aviation market and IndiGo is going through a “maturing phase”. He stressed on having aviation hubs in India which is an underserved area.
The airline is currently in the lead in India and has a domestic market share of over 63%. It has also started expanding its operations internationally. IndiGo connects 32 international and 81 domestic destinations.
IndiGo introduces direct flights between Delhi and Arunachal Pradesh
Earlier this month, the airline announced that it will be launching direct flight connectivity between Delhi and Arunachal Pradesh. The flight connecting Delhi and Itanagar will start operations from October 2, 2023. As of now, IndiGo operates two direct flights from Itanagar’s Donyi Polo airport to Mumbai and Kolkata. These flights started operations on November 28, 2022.
The flight between Delhi and Itanagar, 6E 5927, will depart from Delhi at 09:10 hours and reach Hollongi at 12:00 hours. The return flight, 6E 5928, will depart from Hollongi at 12:30 hours and land in Delhi at 15:25 hours. The flight will operate four days a week on Monday, Tuesday, Friday and Saturday.
