With an aim to further increase its connectivity across the country, IndiGo has started operations from Salem in Tamil Nadu to the state capital of Chennai, as well as to Hyderabad and Bengaluru. While the flight from Salem to Chennai will take off every day, it will offer services from Salem to Hyderabad and Bengaluru four times a week.

The latest services of the airline will help enhance interstate accessibility and play an important role in the economic growth of the region. Speaking about the new operations, Vinay Malhotra, Head of Global Sales, IndiGo, said, “We are pleased to commence operations to/from the vibrant city of Salem, also referred to as the ‘steel city’. These new routes, connecting Salem to the commercial and cultural hubs of Chennai, Hyderabad, and Bengaluru, will bolster tourism, trade, and provide increased accessibility.”

According to the airlines, new services will offer passengers more convenient travel options, enhance connectivity and accessibility, and promote tourism in the region. It may be noted that Salem is not only known for its steel industry but also boasts a rich historical heritage, which is evident from various inscriptions.
Other destinations
Recently, IndiGo started connectivity between Jaipur and Agra starting a new daily flight between the two cities. The step was taken to boost both business and tourism in both cities. Even as flight number 6E 7724 will operate daily, the airline will depart at 12:55 hrs and will reach Jaipur at 13:50 hrs. Similarly, flight number 6E 7723 will depart from Jaipur daily at 14:10 hrs and reach Agra at 15:05 hrs.
