IndiGo expects to carry 112 million passengers in 2024, solidifying its position as a growing force in global aviation, according to CEO Pieter Elbers. This projection comes after the airline surpassed 100 million passengers in 2023, marking a significant milestone for the country’s largest airline.

India’s Role in IndiGo’s Rapid Expansion

As India continues to emerge as one of the world’s fastest-growing civil aviation markets, IndiGo is strengthening its hold on the domestic market, where it holds a 63.6% market share.

In addition to its strong domestic presence, IndiGo is expanding its international network. CEO Elbers revealed that the airline will receive its first A321 XLR aircraft in 2025. These advanced narrow-body planes, designed for longer ranges, will enable IndiGo to operate direct international flights with longer durations. The airline has also placed an order for 30 A350-900 wide-body aircraft, further enhancing its capabilities for international travel.

Since its launch 18 years ago, IndiGo has rapidly expanded, now boasting a fleet of over 400 aircraft. As the airline aims to carry 112 million passengers in 2024, it is poised to contribute significantly to India’s ambition of becoming a global aviation hub. Elbers expressed confidence that IndiGo’s growth trajectory will help it become one of the global leaders in aviation.
