The Maharaja Agrasen Airport in Hisar is slated to commence commercial operations from April this year, a senior bureaucrat from the Haryana state government announced on Friday. Additional Chief Secretary Sudhir Rajpal highlighted key developments during a media briefing.

The state government engaged in discussions with Alliance Air to initiate flights connecting Hisar to cities like Chandigarh, Jaipur, and Ahmedabad. Notably, Alliance Air has secured the necessary licenses from the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) to facilitate operations from the airport.

Strategic Location Advantage

Emphasizing the airport’s advantageous location,  Additional Chief Secretary Sudhir Rajpal mentioned its proximity to New Delhi, situated just about 230 km to the west. This strategic positioning is expected to play a pivotal role in attracting air traffic and fostering connectivity.

Greenfield Airport to be unveiled in phases

Maharaja Agrasen Airport, sprawling over 7,000 acres, is conceptualized as a greenfield airport and will be implemented in three distinct phases. Phase 1 has already been completed, setting the groundwork for subsequent expansions.

Phase 2 Progress Update

In the ongoing development, Phase 2 has seen the establishment of a 10,000-feet runway, a terminal building with an annual capacity of 2.1 million passengers, and comprehensive facilities for cargo and MRO (maintenance, repair, and overhaul) services. This phase positions the airport as a well-equipped hub for diverse aviation needs.

Airstrips and Holistic Development

Alongside the flagship Hisar airport, the Haryana state government has successfully developed five additional airstrips, creating a comprehensive aviation network within the region. This collective effort underscores the state’s commitment to enhancing air connectivity and infrastructure.
