Fliers in Delhi-NCR can now take affordable flights from Hindon Airport! In good news for fliers from Delhi, Noida, Gurgaon and Ghaziabad, flight operations from the second airport in the national capital region Hindon in Ghaziabad will begin within a month’s time. The civilian terminal of the Hindon airport, which was inaugurated earlier this month by PM Narendra Modi, will see the commencement of commercial flight operations from April-end, a AAI official told Financial Express Online.
Hindon airport flight schedule: The authorities at Hindon Airport have been given clear instruction to expedite and finish the remaining work. “Infrastructure set up was already there at the airport, now security equipment like x-ray machine and others are being installed,” the official told Financial Express Online. The flight operations will begin by April-end, the official added. From April end, Delhi-NCR will have a second airport, the first one being the Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport.
Flight ticket, offers: Hindon Airport has come up under the Modi government’s flagship scheme RCS-UDAN scheme. Under this scheme passengers can take flights at affordable fares. This scheme has laid the rules for airlines to cap the flight ticket prices at Rs 2,500 per hour of flight to tier-2 and tier-3 cities.
Flight routes from Hindon Airport: Airlines such as Heritage Aviation, IndiGo Airlines, Ghodawat Airlines and TurboAirlines will run flights for Pithoragarh in Uttarakhand, Nasik in Maharashtra, Kannur in Kerala, Faizabad in Uttar Pradesh, Hubli in Karnataka, Shimla in Himachal Pradesh, Kalaburgi (Gulbarga) in Karnataka and Jamnagar in Gujarat.
Hindon airport benefits: The commencement of commercial flight operations at Hindon will provide much better convenience for fliers residing in East Delhi, Noida and Ghaziabad areas. With this, the long-standing demand for a second airport in the vast Delhi-NCR area will also be fulfilled.
At Hindon Airport in Ghaziabad, the terminal area is 5425 sqm. The terminal can handle capacity of 300 passengers at peak hours. For passengers’ convenience the terminal has eight check-in counters, four frisking booths, two arrival carrousel and car parking which has a capacity to handle 90 cars.
