Vistara took to the skies for the final time on November 11, marking the end of a legendary era in Indian aviation. IndiGo bid a heartfelt farewell to its rival Vistara as the airline took its final flight before officially merging with Air India.

Vistara officially merged with Air India on Monday night, and starting Tuesday, Vistara’s flight code will shift from ‘UK’ to ‘AI2XXX.’

In a post on X, formerly Twitter, IndiGo acknowledged Vistara’s “unforgettable legacy”. “As an unforgettable legacy takes its final flight, a new journey on the horizon awaits. Goodbye, Vistara. Here’s #ToLimitlessPossibilities ahead.,” the airline said.

Reacting to IndiGo’s farewell, Vistara said, “Onward and upward! Here’s to the future and all the exciting possibilities it holds!”

Vistara, launched in 2015 as a joint venture between Tata Sons (holding 51%) and Singapore Airlines (holding 49%), was born out of a strategic partnership enabled by the Indian government’s decision under the UPA administration to permit foreign airlines to acquire up to a 49% stake in domestic carriers.

Post its merger with Air India, while the in-flight experience on Vistara’s fleet will remain the same, customers will now benefit from access to Air India’s broader network and enhanced services.
