The newly integrated Air India-Vistara entity operated its first flight from Doha to Mumbai at 12:15 AM on Tuesday (November 12), according to sources. Following Vistara’s merger with Air India on Monday night, the airline’s flight code will change from ‘UK’ to ‘AI2XXX’ starting today.
The first international flight under the integrated entity will be AI2286, departed from Doha to Mumbai at 12:15 AM. On the domestic front, the first scheduled flight will be AI2984 from Mumbai to Delhi, took off at 1:20 AM. Both flights were previously operated under Vistara’s flight codes and will now are part of Air India’s operations post-merger.
Vistara’s final flight as an independent airline will be UK115 from Delhi to Singapore, departing at 11:45 PM on Monday (November 11).
‘Vistara experience to remain’
Both Air India and Vistara are part of the Tata Group, with Vistara being a joint venture between Tata and Singapore Airlines. On the day of the merger, Vistara pilots made announcements during flights, reassuring passengers that they could continue to enjoy the same premium experience, now under the Air India brand.
In a heartfelt farewell, IndiGo also shared a tribute on social media, bidding adieu to Vistara: “As an unforgettable legacy takes its final flight, a new journey on the horizon awaits. Goodbye, @airvistara. Here’s #ToLimitlessPossibilities ahead. #goIndiGo.”
