As Vistara prepares to merge with Air India on Monday, passengers have flooded social media, sharing their “last flight” experiences and expressing their deep emotional connection with the airline. Vistara, a joint venture between the Tata Group and Singapore Airlines, will now fully integrate with Air India, which is also owned by the Tata Group.
“Wrapped up my last flight on @airvistara before its merger with @airindia, set to complete in two days. Filled with nostalgia for the great flights and excellent service that made Vistara India’s best airline. Wishing them all the best for this new chapter!” a passenger Chirag Naik posted on X, formerly known as Twitter.
Brown Sahiba, another user, shared on X, “Really tragic. What a great airline and product Vistara was. Mergers are always scary — and one brand always dies. In this case, it will be Vistara. Reminds me of the last flight I took on Jet Airways, the evening before they stopped flying for good. Sad to see good brands die.”
The event garnered netizens attention with many writing emotional posts. Take a look –
Details of Air India-Vistara merger
Passengers have been sharing in-flight photos and reminiscing about their luxurious experiences with Vistara, calling it one of the best airline services they’ve enjoyed. To ensure a smooth transition, the airlines have put in place extensive ground arrangements.
Following the merger, Vistara flights will operate under the Air India brand, with each flight assigned a special four-digit Air India code starting with “2.” For example, flight UK 955 will be re-designated as AI 2955, making it easier for passengers to recognise Vistara flights when booking through the Air India website starting November 12.
The airline’s routes, schedules, and in-flight services will remain unchanged, with the same crew providing the same high-quality experience.
