Private budget airline Akasa Air on Tuesday declared plans to commence flight operations connecting Uttar Pradesh’s Gorakhpur with Delhi and Bengaluru from May 29. In an official statement, the airline said that following approval from the Airport Authority of India (AAI) for the proposed schedule, online ticket booking has commenced.
According to the announcement, Akasa Air’s flights will significantly reduce travel time between Gorakhpur and major cities. The journey from Gorakhpur to Delhi will now take only 1 hour and 15 minutes, while the route to Bengaluru will be covered in approximately 2 hours and 35 minutes.
Flight timings
Scheduled to begin on May 29, the flight from Gorakhpur to Delhi will depart at 02.45 PM, reaching Delhi at 04.00 PM. The return flight will depart from Delhi at 04.55 PM and land in Gorakhpur at 06.45 PM. Similarly, the flight to Bengaluru will take off from Gorakhpur at 11.15 AM, arriving in Bengaluru at 02.05 PM. The return journey from Bengaluru to Gorakhpur will depart at 07.20 PM and reach Gorakhpur at 09.55 PM.
Notably, Alliance Air and IndiGo are already operating flights on these routes. IndiGo is also preparing to launch flights between Gorakhpur and Bengaluru in the coming months, news agency ANI reported.
This increase in air connectivity has significantly reduced travel times between Gorakhpur and major cities like Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Hyderabad, and Bengaluru, offering convenience for both essential and leisure travel, which previously took anywhere from 16 to 36 hours.
