Akasa Air faced security threats on some flights scheduled for Thursday. As a result, the airline activated its emergency protocols. Akasa Air response teams are following all applicable safety and security procedures in coordination with the local authorities, said an Akasa Air spokesperson.

“Some of our flights operating on 24th October, 2024, have received security alerts. The Akasa Air Emergency Response teams are closely monitoring the whole situation and remain in constant touch with the security and regulatory authorities. The safety and security procedures are strictly being followed in coordination with the local authorities. Akasa Air teams on the ground are prepared to assist passengers in ensuring their safety and comfort,” said the spokesperson.

Both Goa International Airport (Dabolim) and Manohar International Airport in Goa were on high alert on Thursday following four aircraft bound for these airports receiving bomb threats. The Bomb Threat Assessment Committee (BTAC) has been constituted for the airports to assess these threats.

Several Indian and international flights operated by home airlines received bomb threats earlier, an aviation source said. During this period, major Indian airlines, such as IndiGo, Vistara, and Akasa Air, reported bomb threats for their international as well as domestic flights. IndiGo said in a statement that the airlines received 11 bomb threats by Tuesday evening, following 10 threats reported on Monday.

The Minister of Civil Aviation Ram Mohan Naidu said the ministry has ordered additional checks at airports to ensure the safety of passengers without causing any further inconvenience.

He said that the post of bomb threats on social media was facilitated by a private network, and agencies supervised by the Ministry of Home Affairs are working to trace those responsible.

The minister said that the culprits will be put on a no-fly list. The Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (BCAS) continues keeping constant contact with the Ministry of Home Affairs on the subject of the bomb threats against some flights.
