Air India and IndiGo on Monday (August 5) announced the immediate cancellation of all scheduled flights to and from Dhaka in response to the escalating situation in Bangladesh. This decision comes amid heightened speculation regarding Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s potential arrival in India and a high alert issued by the Indian Border Security Force (BSF) along the India-Bangladesh border.

Air India operates two daily flights from Delhi to Dhaka, while Vistara offers daily flights from Mumbai and three weekly services from Delhi to the Bangladeshi capital. IndiGo provides flights to Dhaka from Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, and Kolkata, although the exact number of its flights was not immediately available.

“In view of the emerging situation in Bangladesh, we have cancelled the scheduled operation of our flights to and from Dhaka with immediate effect. We are continuously monitoring the situation and are extending support to our passengers with confirmed bookings for travel to and from Dhaka with a one-time waiver on rescheduling and cancellation charges. IndiGo cancels flights to Dhaka

IndiGo announced that, due to the current situation in Dhaka, all flights scheduled for tomorrow have been cancelled. “We understand that this may cause significant inconvenience and disruption to your travel plans and we sincerely regret this development,” it said in a post on X.

A Vistara official said it operated the flight from Mumbai on Monday and the situation is being monitored for operations to Dhaka on Tuesday.
