Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday said the interim Budget presented by Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said that the “historic” Budget will empower the “four pillars” of developed India – poor, farmers, women and the youth.

In a televised address after Sitharaman presented the Budget in the new Parliament building, he said that the Budget is “creating India’s future” and that it reflects the aspirations of young India.

PM Modi said that the income tax remission scheme announced in the interim budget will provide relief to about one crore citizens belonging to the middle class.

While keeping the fiscal deficit under control, the PM noted that total expenditure has seen a historic increase to Rs 11,11,111 crore in the interim budget 2024-25. “In economists’ parlance, this is a kind of sweet spot,” Modi said.

He also said that Budget also has rebates for start-ups.

Speaking about the ‘Lakhpati Didi’ initiative, the PM said that the goal of the government was earlier to make two ‘lakhpatis’ among women, and now the target has been enhanced to three crore women.

The Prime Minister also highlighted the government’s efforts for the welfare of the poor and the middle class.

Interest-free loans to states a game-changer: Amit Shah

Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Thursday said that the Budget draws a roadmap to achieve PM Modi’s vision of ‘developed India’ by 2047.

“The budget speech sheds light on the milestones achieved by the Modi govt in the last 10 years on its journey to make Bharat the foremost nation in every sector during the Amrit Kaal. On the very foundation of these feats, the magnificent edifice of a Viksit Bharat is being built,” he said in a post on X, formerly Twitter.

He also said that the provision for the one lakh crore corpus fund for technology will not only leverage the nation’s research and development prowess but will also encourage youths from humble backgrounds to take on the challenge of bringing a meaningful change in society using technology as a medium.

The Union Home Minister also said that decision to provide Rs 75,000 crore interest-free loans to states for next five decades will prove a “gamechanger” in strengthening the Centre-State relations.

“It will also ensure that no region is left behind in the great Bharat that Modi Ji has envisioned,” he said.

Vision for a confident, strong and self-reliant country: Rajnath Singh

Meanwhile, Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh said that the interim Budget outlines the vision for a confident, strong and self-reliant country.

“Inspired by PM Narendra Modi’s vision of making India a developed nation by 2047, this Budget gives the glimpse of India’s rapid economic transformation. There is something in this Budget for every section of the society. There is big push for infrastructure, construction, manufacturing, housing and technology development in this Budget,” he said in a post on X.

“During the COVID-Pandemic when the world was faltering India emerged as the beacon of hope. This Budget is perfectly aligned with PM’s ‘Panchamrit Goals’ and it also paves the way for the next five years of unprecedented growth. This Budget has increased the capital expenditure outlay to 11.1% from FY 24 to ₹11.11 Lakh Crore for FY 25. This massive capex push will provide a big boost to making India a five trillion dollar economy by 2027,” he added.
