The Pune Industrial Tribunal on Thursday refused to grant an interim relief to Bajaj Auto in the industrial dispute case with its workers union, the Vishwakalyan Kamgar Sanghatana (VKS). Bajaj Auto had sought an interim relief in the industrial dispute case saying that the union had illegally terminated the nine-year wage deal and that the workers had not participated in the review process. The court said prima-facie it cannot be said that the union had failed to report or discuss or take part in the wage review process.

A settlement on May 21, 2010, between Bajaj Auto and VKS was in vogue and was valid till March 31, 2019. As per the agreement, there was to be a review of wages after three years failing which both parties could terminate the agreement. The union had terminated the agreement saying the company had failed to review the agreement as promised.
