The recently formed United National Progressive Alliance (UNPA) is in the throes of a split. In a virtual snub to Samajwadi Party?s general secretary Amar Singh, AIADMK supremo J Jayalalithaa on Sunday said she wondered if her party was part of the UNPA at all.
Jayalaithaa rejected Singh?s contention that she had endorsed his stand of an alternative mechanism comprising all political parties on the Indo-US nuclear deal.
The SP leader had on Friday told a press conference that the UNPA was for an alternative mechanism, not a JPC on the nuclear deal.
Jayalalithaa, however, denied that the UNPA had taken such a stand. ?Amar Singh is reported to have stated that there should be another mechanism for every political party to present its views on Indo-US nuke deal. This is definitely not the view of the AIADMK and cannot be termed as the collective view of the UNPA,? she said in a release here.
