Sun Direct TV Private Ltd, a direct to home (DTH) arm of the Sun TV Network, has announced on Monday that it has mopped up nearly one million subscribers in just 200 days of its operations. The one million subscriber-base come from only four southern states of Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh and Kerala and the Union Territory of Puducherry.

On the eve of this milestone, Sun Direct launched 14 add-on packages ranging from as low as of Rs 10 to Rs 140 packges to suit every pocket in a ?Pay for what you watch? concept for the way first time in Indian DTH scenario, Sun TV said in a release here on Monday.

Some of the other firsts include four regional basic tiers consisting of over 100 plus channels specific to each southern state (basics of Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Kerala) at the rate of Rs 75 per month with the consumer premises equipment (set top box, dish, LNB) being given free for viewing. Sun Direct DTH is also the first platform in India which provides with the latest MPEG 4 technology.

Sun Direct also provides in addition to regular audio/video outputs, digital optical audio outputs for crystal clear audio quality and component video output to get the best picture quality for plasma, LCD and other high-end televisions.

The company will be soon spreading its wings across the country, the press release said.
