Reserve Bank of India deputy governor KC Chakrabarty on Friday said that ?statistics is always a problem? referring to its statistics department?s goof-up earlier this week on the country?s second quarter gross domestic product data. ?Statistics collected from different sources at different point of time will always create some problems. People who read (statistical data), they have to read it carefully,” said Chakrabarty on the sidelines of a banking seminar. On Tuesday, the statistics department released India?s second quarter gross domestic product growth data? at factor cost 8.8% year-on-year and at market cost 3.7% on year. The wide difference between the two caused a flutter in the market forcing the statistics department to take a relook into the matter.
