Putting the party into top gear ahead of possible mid-term elections, the BJP on Saturday said Congress chief Sonia Gandhi was the biggest destabiliser in the country.
Blaming Gandhi for hurting national faith, senior BJP leader LK Advani claimed that impact of destabilising efforts by parties like the Left and the DMK in the ruling coalition were limited only to the government.
Recalling his Ayodhya movement days, Advani said even during those days his opponents never doubted the existence of Lord Ram. Putting it sarcastically, he said, the present Manmohan Singh government under Gandhi’s leadership had for the first time challenged the ethos of the country by filing affidavits in the Supreme Court negating history and existence of Lord Ram.
?I am telling you no officer or a minister can ever dare to commit such a blasphemous blunder. Even the law officer of government of India, Gopal Subramaniyam, in an interview claimed that he wrote the draft under instruction. We have every right to know, who had instructed the officer in writing so. To the best of my belief, none other than Gandhi can pass on such an instruction, as it is naturally difficult for her to understand Indian ethos,? Advani said while addressing a mammoth rally here. Calling upon the people to dislodge the UPA government at the Centre, which has risked the national integrity by indulging into divisive politics Advani said, ?I have come here to make you all understand why she should be taught a lesson.?
Meanwhile, a resolution on Ram Sethu was approved at the BJP’s ongoing national executive meeting, but senior leader Murli Manohar Joshi made it clear that the party ?would not directly take up the campaign, as it will only lend support to the Rameshwaram Ram Sethu Raksha Manch to save the bridge?. ?We had never promised to construct the Ram temple ourselves, but had promised support to the endeavour undertaken by trusts like the Ram Janma Bhoomi Nyas,? Joshi said, adding ?we will also extend all possible support to the Manch for preservation of the Sethu?.
