Riverbank Developers Pvt Ltd and Hiland are going to come up with a marina business-cum-leisure hotel and service apartments on the bank of river Hooghly at Batanagar by 2013.

Marina is a small harbour for small boats that are used for leisure. Sumit Dabriwala, managing director of Hiland, said single and twin engine boats, outboard motors and yachts will be parked and used for rides. There will be space for parking around 25 boats, he said.

Riverbank Developers has made a management contract with International Hotels Group, one of the world’s largest hotel groups, for technical and management services.

“Around Rs 175 crore will be spent for constructing the hotel named Crown Plaza Hotels & Resorts. It would have 200 rooms and 75 service apartments and would be built on four acre,” said Dabriwala.

Construction for the proposed hotel is slated to begin from next year, he said.

“The deal with the International Hotels Group is for 15 years after which it can be renewed. They would be providing technical and management services to Crown Plaza Hotels & Resorts,” Dabriwala told reporters.

Riverbank Developers is under the United Credit Belani Group, which is a Kolkata-based company dealing in real estate.

The hotel is a part of the 15 million sqft Calcutta Riverside Project (a Bata and Hiland joint venture), which is an integrated township at Batanagar including residential complexes, malls, IT SEZ, golf courses, lakes apart from the hotel.

“The total cost of construction of the township would be around Rs 3,000 crore,” Dabriwala said.

“In the first phase by 2011, we would be completing three residential complexes, first block of IT SEZ and employee housing for Bata,” he said.
