Anil Ambani group firm Reliance Power today reported an over five-fold jump in its consolidated net profit at Rs 194.53 crore for the second quarter ended September 30, 2009.
The company had a net profit of Rs 37.22 crore in the September quarter of FY?09, Reliance Power said in a filing to the Bombay Stock Exchange.
Total income rose to Rs 246.15 crore during the July- September quarter of the current fiscal, from Rs 56.95 crore in the corresponding period last fiscal.
At the end of the second quarter of this fiscal, the cash and liquid balance of the company stood at Rs 9,514 crore and the company?s networth stood at Rs 14,237 crore.
Elaborating on its various power projects, Reliance Power said its 600 MW Rosa Phase-I Power Project is expected to be commissioned ahead of scheduled in March 2010.
The construction activities of the Butibori plant are progressing as per schedule. The Chitrangi Project in Madhya Pradesh is progressing well in terms of getting environmental clearance for commencement of construction, it said.
On a standalone basis, Reliance Power posted a net profit of Rs 70.63 crore, up nearly 50 per cent over the year-ago period. Total income rose to Rs 101.19 crore during the period, from Rs 64.07 crore in the last fiscal.
Shares of Reliance Power closed at Rs 150.45, down 4.54 per cent over the previous close on the BSE.
