Infosys chief mentor, NR Narayanmurthy called for a halt to ?comments? and ?second guessing? of the operations of Satyam and give room to the newly appointed board and company employees to revive it.

Speaking on the sidelines of the Great CIO?s ?India?s greatest technology leaders conference? where he was awarded the ?George Boole medal of honour?, Narayanmurthy said, ?there is no need to discuss on issues concerning the impact Satyam will have on the IT industry?. Satyam Computers has a new board of directors in Kiran Karnik, Deepak Parekh and C Achuthan and it is best to communicate with them.?

He further said that the newly appointed board, which consisted of people experienced in handling crisis, would require a few days to assess the situation and take decisions. ?The rest of us should stop meddling and giving opinions,? he added.

In his keynote address, Narayanmurthy stressed the need for the country?s IT sector to involve itself in more innovation. The IT sector, which primarily focused on software delivery, needed to participate in more research and present more papers, and file more patents, said Narayanmurthy.

He further said that Infosys was working on the deployment of a new ?magic mirror? technology with a well-known retailer whose name he did not want to mention. “We are working with a well-known retailer in deploying magic mirror technology and I do not want to disclose the name of the company now”, R Narayanamurthy said.

At least 500 patent applications were under process in the US and 650 scientists are working in various labs, he said.
