The Orissa government has lined up as many as 36 public-private-partnership (PPP) projects worth Rs 19,800 crore. The projects are coming up in sectors like ports, roads, tourism, special economic zones (SEZs) and information technology. The state planning and co-ordination minister, Duryodhan Majhi, told FE that the Empowered Committee on Infrastructure (ECI) has cleared almost all the projects lined up under the PPP model.

Big-ticket projects like the Dhamra Port, Gopalpur Port and Samuka Beach Resort projects are well in advance stages, the minister said. While the Rs 2469-crore Dhamra Port project is being developed in partnership with Dhamra Port Corporation Ltd, a 50:50 joint venture between Tata Steel and L&T, the Rs 1700-crore Gopalpur Port is being promoted with Orissa Stevedore?s Ltd.

The minister said the bidding for selection of partners for the hotel projects in the Samuka Beach Resort project has entered the request for proposal stage. As many as 11 firms have been shortlisted after the request for qualification round for setting up 4/5 star hotels. He said land for the first phase of the project has been acquired. Other projects include Rs 480-crore international convention centre at Bhubaneswar, Rs 146-crore IT & corporate tower at Bhubaneswar, Rs 500-crore info park in Bhubaneswar, Rs 352-crore SEZ-BPO at Mancheswar in Bhubaneswar, Rs 68-crore Palasapanga Bamberi road project, Rs 35.67-crore knowledge park, Rs 76-crore commercial and IT complex at Rourkela.

Some big projects that are about to start are Rs 2,000-crore Kirtania Port by Creative Infrastructure of Chennai and Rs 712-crore multi-product SEZ at Paradip.
