Sanjay Suneja, Managing Director, Sona Commercial tells how the rising number of corporate houses globally has raised the demand for paper.

The Indian Paper Industry is among the top 15 global players today. What factors in your opinion are boosting the demand for the paper?

Post 1992, economic liberalisation has opened good avenues for almost all the sectors. Varied applications of the fine paper for annual reports, CSR reports, catalogues, brochures, business cards, carry bags and packaging etc, makes this product extremely important for the corporate world. The following points have contributed immensely toward growing Paper Industry.

The advent of more and more global business houses in different sectors has created more and more need of communication needs. Paper being one of the strongest pillar of any communication, needs have increased many times.

Opening of realty and retail sectors, have increased the demand of paper and its uses in various type of communication application. Following reasons have also contributed the growing demand for fine paper.

*The advent of more and more branded paper.

*The growing acceptance of specialty paper.

*The bent of young generation towards reading habit.

What steps are you specifically taking to be an environmental friendly organization?

Green days are coming back and one of the most important initiatives in last decade is FSC-COC proliferation. FSC is an independent, non-governmental, not-for-profit organization established to promote the responsible management of the world?s forests.

Towards this initiative, Sona Commercial, is only trading company in the country that has joined the FSC chain of custody (CoC) member to promote and preserve forestry. Through this initiative and with its multi branches operation across the country Sona has become first of its kind multi site FSC certified company. ?Our branches in Mumbai, Kolkata, Bagalore, Hydrabad, and Delhi, are equipped to cater the growing need of FSC certified paper?.

To contribute more towards the society, Sona has joined hand with one of the most reputed paper mill in Austria, ‘Lenzing Papeir’, to sell their 100% post consumer waste recycled paper.

Tell us about your journey with Gruppo Cordenons, Italy?

It All started in the year of 2003. Realizing the growing need of speciality paper and environment friendly paper, Sona entered into the venture with Gruppo Cordenons, Italy. Based out of Italy; Cordenons mill has worldwide presence and is acknowledged leader in fine paper segment. Cordenons product basket comprises high innovative graphic paper like Texture, Metallic, & color. The usage varies from the normal text & cover to luxury packaging. Cordenons products are endorsed by leading lifestyle brands across the globe.

Sona has been associated with Cordenons since 2004 end. Today, Cordenons is the leading brand in the fine graphic media segment too.
