The Maharashtra government was hauled up by the Supreme Court on Wednesday over alleged lapses in taking action against perpetrators of the 1992 Mumbai communal riots.
The apex court stated that it would not hesitate from ordering a re-investigation and proper prosecution of all the accused involved in riots on the lines of Gujarat communal mayhem. ?If there is complete failure of justice, it will certainly be looked into. RV Raveendran and Dalveer Bhandari said. However, the court said it could not pass any order on the basis of the findings made by the Srikrishna Commission. The petitioner, an organisation called Action Committee for Implementation of Srikrishna Commission, had approached the court citing inaction by the government.
