First the BJP snapped its ties with the INLD. Then, only weeks after the alliance was announced, the BSP severed its alliance with the Haryana Janhit Congress (HJC).
Now, after a week-long flip-flop, the HJC-BJP alliance possibilities are also finally grounded. Talks between the two parties broke on Thursday after HJC chief Kuldeep Bishnoi refused to budge from his stand of projecting himself as the chief ministerial candidate.
The BJP had agreed on Bhajan Lal being projected as the leader of the alliance. Sources said the alliance broke during a meeting at Delhi, held in the presence of senior BJP leader and in-charge of Haryana affairs, Vijay Goel.
Sources said since both the parties were to contest an equal number of seats, as per the agreement, there was a possibility of one winning more seats than the other.
The BJP had said that the leader should be from the party that gets more number of seats. This was not acceptable to the HJC.
When contacted, Kuldeep Bishnoi said: ?It was never an alliance. We had informal talks to explore any possibility of a tie-up. They wanted to project Bhajan Lalji as the leader so as to win over his name and hard work of Kuldeep Bishnoi and to later say goodbye. Only a fool won?t understand their strategy.?
Vijay Goel, too, said that his party was capable of contesting all the 90 seats on its own and ?provide an alternative to the Congress government?.
