In mixed pattern of trading, select edible oils continued to slide for the third day on the wholesale oils and oilseeds market today largely in line with a weakening global trend,while a few others moved up on fresh local buying.
However, non-edible oils moved in a narrow range in scattered deals and settled around previous levels.
The trading sentiment in select edible oils remained weak as palm oil fell to a two-week low in global markets on speculations that a bigger US soybean crop will boost global cooking oil supplies.
Meanwhile, palm oil futures for March delivery dropped by 1.4 per cent to USD 1,007 a tonne on the Malaysia Derivatives Exchange, the lowest since December 30.
In the national capital, soyabean refined mill delivery (Indore) and soyabean degum (Kandla) oils lost Rs 20 each to Rs 7,180 and Rs 6,730 per quintal, respectively.
Palmolein (rbd) and palmolein (kandla) oils declined by Rs 20 each to Rs 6,980 and Rs 6,630 per quintal.
On the other hand, mustard expeller (Dadri) and cottonseed mill delivery (Haryana) oils rose by Rs 20 each to Rs 7,800 and Rs 6,650 per quintal respectively on the back of buying by local parties.
The following were today’s quotations per quintal: Oilseeds: Mustard Seed 2,550-2,680 and Groundnut Seed 2,125-2,875.
