MHB Filter India (MHBI), a joint venture between Germany-based Mann and Hummel Filter and the Bosch Group, has set up its second manufacturing plant at Nalagarh, in Solan district of Himachal Pradesh. The Nalagarh plant, which has catalysed an investment of Rs 12 crore, will manufacture automotive filters with a capacity of producing 1.6 crore filters per year.

MHBI has a manufacturing plant at Tumkur in Karnataka. Production in Nalagarh plant slated to begin in September this year. The company is targeting to produce about 80 lakh filters by December 2009. The automotive filter market in India is estimated at Rs 800 crore. Talking to FE, Josef Parzhuber, chairman, MHB Filter India, said, ?We are focusing on the original equipment market in India which has seen a compound average growth rate of 18-20% over the past five years.?
