LIC’s northern zone has chalked out a strategy to woo customers.The northern zone comprising Punjab, Haryana, HP, Rajasthan, J&K and Union Territory of Delhi and Chandigarh was the top performer in the country last year with new business premium collection of Rs 8650 crore and 51 lakh policy sales. “This year the North Zone has set a target for achieving business premium of Rs 10,000 crore, out of which Rs 2103 crore has already been achieved till end July. It is to be noted that North Zone has been the largest contributor to the business for last two consecutive years especially the Chandigarh Division,”this was revealed by Ashok Shah, Zonal Manager, LIC to FE.

It also plans to implement Electronic Data Management System at full swing. After covering Delhi in the first phase, the project would be implemented across six divisions in north zone by December this year. These divisions are Chandigarh, Shimla, Jalandhar, Ludhiana, Jaipur and Karnal. The implementation of the project would ensure hassle free services to LIC customers from anywhere in the country. LIC hopes to be paperless by 2009 and has tied up with HP for the project which is expected to see around Rs 600-700 crore of investment.
