Israel?s military offensive in the Gaza strip came under heavy criticism from the Left parties on Friday, who demanded that the UPA government snap diplomatic ties with Tel Aviv and initiate sanctions against the country.

??India should snap all the diplomatic ties with Israel untill the aggression in Gaza and Palestine is stopped,?? CPI General Secretary AB Bardhan said. Charging the government with ??complete failure?? to take a clear stand against Israel, Bardhan said that New Delhi should cancel all military ties and arm deals with Israel. Addressing a rally here, he said that the money paid by India in such deals is also being used to support the offensive.

??India cannot be a party to finance the inhuman Israeli juggernaut,?? Bardhan said. Leaders from JD(S) and TDP, besides CPI(M), CPI, RSP and AIFB passed a joint resolution.
